Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
📍 Palmers Green · London Bridge · Barbican · Online
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and have been working with adults, young people and adolescents for the last 15 years. I see the Mind as central and stemming from this the unconscious which, outside of conscious awareness, influences how humans think/feel/behave. I believe in the Theory of Object Relations: where the Mind does not develop in isolation but in relationship to the other (others). How the individual forms relationships and internalizes them is contingent on whether the care that was originally given was loving or neglectful or inconsistent or indeed abusive.
Drawing on a Freudian and Kleinian framework, I work to help clients move away from unhelpful patterns in which people are experienced as either entirely good or entirely bad, towards a healthier, more realistic integration: a nuanced grey area where both sides coexist.
I work with adults and with young people aged 13–25, offering both open-ended psychoanalytic work and time-limited psychodynamic therapy (TAPP).
I hold an MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from Trinity College Dublin, which included infant observation followed by four years of supervised clinical practice at the Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. I have been a full member of the IFPP and ICP (UKCP equivalent) since 2018.
I am also a Kite Marked BPC practitioner specialising in Time-Limited Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (TAPP). This structured model typically involves an assessment phase (four weeks / ~25% of sessions) followed by a focused treatment phase (~16 weeks) addressing a central issue agreed with the client — one that is preventing them from reaching their full potential. It may involve working through unhelpful defences such as eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive behaviours, or substance use.
My clinical history spans:
Where do sessions take place?
I see clients in Palmers Green (N13 4QU), London Bridge (42 Borough High Street), and the Barbican / Old Street area (45 City Road, City of London Therapy Centre). Online sessions are also available.
What types of therapy do you offer?
I offer time-limited work focused on a specific issue, typically weekly, as well as open-ended psychoanalytic psychotherapy with one or two sessions per week.
What are the fees?
Fees range from £70 to £100 per weekly session. These are negotiable depending on commitment, frequency, and financial capacity. Reductions are particularly considered for open-ended therapy.
What happens if I miss a session?
Missed sessions (DNA) are charged for. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.
How does ending therapy work?
Endings are an important part of the therapeutic process and require time to process — typically around a month as a minimum. In short-term work the ending is planned during the initial assessment. For longer therapies, the ending period is proportionate to the duration: two years of therapy may require around two months; fourteen years may need over a year.
Do you work with young people?
Yes. I have specialist training in Time-Limited Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (TAPP) and work with young people aged 13–25.
